NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NBA has hired former Wasserman Media Group executive Malcolm Turner to be the president of its Development League.The NBA announced the hiring on Thursday. Turner interned for the NBA while he was in school at Harvard and most recently worked as managing director of Wassermans golf division.With the D-League, Turner will report to deputy commissioner Mark Tatum and oversee the 18-team leagues business and basketball operations.Turner got to know NBA Commissioner Adam Silver while working on the launch of the WNBA during his internship in 1996. The Sochi organizing committee said its projected surplus is a record for any games. The 1984 Los Angeles Olympics produced a surplus of $232 million. The 2008 Beijing Games claimed a profit of over $146 million, while the 2012 London Olympics recorded an $8 million surplus. The surplus is only from the Sochi organizing committee, which had an operations budget of about $2 billion.
